The Only time I have every gone to watch the same band play three times at the same festival was to watch The Peoples String Foundation. It was at Glastonbury festival in 2010 that I first came across this amazing act. The energy, vibrancy, charisma, charm, passion and talent that this band emits is apparent to all. If you get a chance to see them play live you better have a damn good excuse to miss them. Their Debut album 'Making Waves' is highly recommended by us all here at mn8music.
The Peoples String Foundation is the brain-child of Ben Sutcliffe (a multi-instrumentalist and Jazz singer) who specialises in virtuoso violin styles from Classical to Roots; and Zaid Al-Rikabi (a world/blues guitarist and vocalist)
Our project is based in Cornwall near Perranporth. The vision has always been to have a collective of musicians that we meet on our travels to play with us when we perform live. The Peoples String live band consists of Ben Sutcliffe, Zaid Al-Rikabi, Beth Hutchins, Will Garwood, Molly Weaver, Harry Harding and Lukas Drinkwater, and the worlds most talented sound engineer Tommy Williams
The other aspect of our Peoples String project is the writing partnership. We write and record music for other artists, for film, dance companies and theatre projects. We are always interested in creative collaborations, and anyone with an idea and the heart to go with it will have our attention.
The Peoples String Foundation is a band, a collective, a writing partnership and a vision. The debut album 'Making Waves' is a concept album with various styles of Roots and Modern influences glued together with an intricate and expressive violin section. The result is the story/fable of a single wave (made from a falling leaf) and it's journey towards the sea. The Peoples String Foundation is inspired; by the people they meet, the experiences of life on the road, and the global theatre of the present day, and our mission is clear... To make the first wave...
